Bastrop State Park Bouncing Back
Bastrop State Park is one of my favorite places to visit and happens to be one of the closest Texas State Park’s to my home. This state park has battled through natural disasters and is a great example of grow after destruction.
Major events damaged Bastrop State Park in recent years. The Bastrop Complex Wildfire in September of 2011 affected 96 percent of the park, while a Memorial Day flood in 2015 led to dam failure of the 10 acre fishing lake. Another fire occured in 2015 known as the Hiddle Pines Fire.
The park is home to some specatular views as you can look down on Hwy 71 in Bastrop from Scenic Overlook, which happens to be my favorite trail to hike. You will notice some amazing views from this trail on my Bastrop State Park page located at: https://www.texasadventurer.org/bastrop-state-park
There are camping sites availble at this park (Tent, Cabins, and RV Spots). There is a swimming pool located on site along with plenty of hiking and biking trails.
